Our house in Santa Ynez

Built on
the mats.

A jiu-jitsu gym for the whole valley — early risers, lunch-break rollers, kids, and first-timers. One room, one standard: leave a little better than you walked in.

The idea

Jiu-jitsu is the art of the transition — the moment between positions where the whole match is won or lost. That's the name, and it's the way we train.

Transition is a place to work hard and be looked after while you do it. New students get walked through the door, not thrown to the wolves. Experienced grapplers get the rounds and the resistance they came for. Everyone shares the same mat and the same idea: better every day, together.

We run gi and no-gi through the week, a dedicated kids program, an all-women's class, and stand-up wrestling for anyone who wants to own the takedown. Whatever your reason for starting — fitness, self-defense, competition, or just something that's yours — there's a spot on the mat for you.

Programs

Every class on the weekly schedule, and what to expect when you show up.

Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Traditional jiu-jitsu in the kimono — grips, sweeps, and the patient chess of controlling someone with the cloth. The technical foundation of the art.

MonWedFri

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Same art, no jacket. Faster scrambles, body-lock control, and leg locks. Athletic, sweaty, and built for grappling and MMA crossover.
